WELCOME TO THE 29th ASPHER ANNUAL CONFERENCE

As the host of the 29th ASPHER Annual Conference, EVES, the Valencian School of Health Studies, welcomes you to Valencia.

It is a great honour for us to receive you, the European Public Health professionals, to our city and our School, and to be able to exchange different experiences in the education that have been carried out in each of your countries.

Furthermore, we are very proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of EVES this year, and we wish to extend our joy to you all because our School has progressed and grown day by day over the last twenty years since its creation in 1987.

We hope that this appointment in Valencia, under the main theme “Strengthening Public Health in Europe, Public Health Functions and Educational Needs”, will contribute to the development and review of the essential public health functions and their different areas of action, as well as the learning and educational needs that must inevitably accompany this initiative to strengthen public health systems in Europe.

Therefore, we invite all the participants to present their works and initiatives and to share their own experiences with a view to favouring the improvement of, and the adaptation to, the needs and future challenges of public health education in Europe.

Valencia, with more than 2000 years of history, has lived through different cultures whose customs and traditions have taken root in our society, and have made us what we are today.

In recent years our city has undergone an amazing transformation towards modernity, which is now a reality with projects like the City of the Arts and Sciences. However, Mediterranean tradition has been maintained which has led us to host the 32nd America’s Cup this year.

We look forward to welcoming you personally to our city in October.
