The Valencian School of Health Studies (EVES)

Our history dates back to the year 1987 when the Valencian Institute of Public Health Studies commenced (IVESP). The work of this institute fundamentally centres on research and on educating health care professionals in public health-related themes.

With time, our mission has evolved, and we have become part of the organizing structure of the Regional Ministry of Health. Our main objective is to contribute to improve the citizens’ health and quality of life, the quality of health services and programmes, and the professional practice through education, research and professional advice in health to professionals, representatives and politicians in charge at the Regional Ministry of Health.

Thus EVES, after 20 years of experience, practice and continual learning, is the organization in charge of the continual education of health care and non health care professionals who work inside and outside the Valencian health system.  Furthermore, EVES is also in charge of the research activity related to Public Health and the management of health services.

From EVES we propose and manage specialized education programmes such as::

• Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Care Management
• Master’s Degree in Bioethics
• Master’s Degree in the Management of Public Health Centres and Projects
• Diploma in Health Care
• Diploma in the Research Methodology in Health Services

Many of these higher education programmes, along with other courses, conference days and workshops, are organized closely with different representatives and key agents in our setting, such as: the different public administrations, the Valencian Universities, the professional colleges, family-based associations, volunteer groups and NGOs.

In the area of research, EVES promotes the creation and diffusion of knowledge through human resources education in research methodologies, practical sessions, the defining and management of research programmes and projects and the maintenance of national and international research collaboration networks. Furthermore, it offers access to quality scientific information through publications and other activities, above all, by permanently maintaining and updating the Documentation Centre.

EVES works for the recognition of the prestige that it has achieved in 20 years within the international sphere before Valencian and Spanish health professionals, for who EVES is a referent in health quality and a centre par excellence of education, research and diffusion of Public Health knowledge, Health Care Administration and Welfare Practice.
